Role Profile - Recruitment & Retention Coordinator
We are currently recruiting for two roles to join our Recruitment & Retention team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a fast-paced, in-house people services function, providing recruitment services to both North Yorkshire Police (NYP) and North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (NYFRS).
We have two exciting opportunities available:
- Recruitment & Retention Coordinator within our Retention Team
- Recruiter within our Acquisition Team
Recruitment & Retention Coordinator (Scale 5)
As a Recruitment & Retention Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our recruitment strategies and workforce plans. This includes attracting, engaging, recruiting and retaining top talent across NYP and NYFRS, with a particular focus on promotion boards, specialist recruitment activity, high-potential initiatives and alternative entry routes.
We are looking for a proactive, organised and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about delivering excellent results and supporting career development opportunities across our organisations.
Typical duties will include:
- Planning and coordinating police officer and firefighter promotion processes, including the facilitation of police exams.
- Coordinating high-potential initiatives, including Direct Entry and Fast Track programmes
- Supporting a variety of entry routes, including apprenticeship programmes, graduate schemes and work experience opportunities
- Organising and delivering recruitment workshops, providing support and guidance to prospective applicants. Facilitating our monthly Corporate Induction.
- Supporting a range of key retention initiatives and activities
Recruiter (Scale 5)
As a Recruiter, you will be responsible for delivering innovative resourcing strategies for both high-volume and specialist vacancies, managing the full recruitment lifecycle for internal and external recruitment campaigns.
Typical duties will include:
- Partnering with hiring managers to design and implement tailored attraction strategies
- Producing end-of-campaign reports to evaluate and analyse the effectiveness of attraction activities
- Developing an understanding of current and future workforce requirements to ensure a proactive approach to recruitment demand
- Building relationships with both active and passive candidates, maintaining market awareness and developing strong talent pipelines
- Utilising a range of attraction channels, including job boards, social media, websites, CV searching and events, ensuring all activity aligns with our employer brand and Employee Value Proposition (EVP)
- Providing expert advice and guidance to hiring managers on innovative assessment methods and selection techniques
Both roles will include working collaboratively with Inclusion colleagues to promote a fair, inclusive and transparent approach to attraction and selection.
About You
These roles are fast-paced, challenging and highly rewarding. We are looking for individuals who are proactive, solutions-focused and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively.
You will have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to build strong working relationships across the organisation. Previous experience in recruitment, talent acquisition or workforce planning is essential.
Most importantly, you'll be a collaborative team player who can work independently when required while also supporting colleagues and the wider team to achieve shared objectives.
