Fleet Manager

Chiltern Transport Consortium (CTC) is an innovative cross-border collaborative service that provides a high quality fleet provision for seven police organisations nationally. As a long-standing collaboration, CTC, continues to grow, offering best value for money for all forces through continuing to deliver efficiency savings.

The fleet manager plays a critical role in enabling officers to respond to calls and attend incidents, keeping the communities served safe. Ensuring vehicle VoR numbers are kept to a minimum increases the numbers of available vehicles patrolling the streets, promoting greater visibility of police and police presence, building greater reassurance and confidence to the public.  Ensuring the fleet is maintained to the highest standards with vehicle types and build specifications tailored to roles is the essence of police fleet management, with safety off our officers and employees as well as the public, at the heart of every decision we make.

The role demands a strong person with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage across a multi-site and multi-stakeholder set up, with budgetary control and responsibly being an essential area to have confidence and experience in managing. An in-depth understanding of both fleet and workshops management is essential, with an ability to lead change and drive efficiencies though the entire fleet operation provision, both with in house workshops and outsourced SMR delivery. 

The position would suit individuals that thrive in a busy, varied environment while being able to use your own initiative to problem solve and look for better, smarter ways of working, with an innovative, open minded approach to fleet service provision. The successful candidate will need the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with the ability to make decisions and bring groups together on challenging business decisions.  Being inquisitive and always seeking to understand the underpinning principles of tasks worked on and using initiative to apply these principles to different scenarios.

High attention to detail along with a 'get it right first time' mentality will be the core pillars to which you'll work, along with showing integrity and compassion in the work place

A full driving licence is considered essential as capability to travel across the CTC member Forces is required in order to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly.
