We are seeking a motivated and professional Detective Constable to join the Crime Training Department. This role offers an excellent opportunity to step away from frontline operational pressures while directly influencing investigative standards and professional development across the organisation.
As a DC Crime Trainer, you will support the design, delivery, and evaluation of crime and investigative training for officers and staff at various stages of their careers. You will work closely with experienced trainers and subject matter experts, contributing to high‑quality learning that supports operational effectiveness and investigative excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, deliver, and evaluate crime and investigative training for officers and staff
- Deliver learning using a range of methods including classroom‑based training, online learning, practical exercises, and Hydra immersive learning
- Support the use of Hydra to enhance investigative decision‑making, critical thinking, and reflective learning
- Assess learning and provide constructive feedback to support development and performance
- Support the continuous professional development of investigators, including PIP Level 1 and 2
- Maintain and update learning materials to ensure accuracy and relevance
- Provide mentoring and coaching support to learners
- Ensure training content aligns with current legislation, policy, and authorised professional practice
- Promote ethical policing, professionalism, and inclusive behaviours
- Maintain accurate training and assessment records
Essential Criteria
- Substantive Detective Constable
- Recent and demonstrable experience in operational policing and crime investigation
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to engage, support, and develop others
- Sound knowledge of investigative legislation, policy, and procedure
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- PIP Level 2 accreditation
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in a training, tutoring, mentoring, or coaching role
- Experience of designing or delivering learning and development solutions
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and assessment methods
