West Mercia Police - Detective Chief Inspector Promotion Process

Join Us in Shaping the Future of West Mercia Police

Applications are now open for exceptional leaders in our Detective Chief Inspector promotion process

West Mercia Police is inviting applications from exceptional leaders who want to make a real impact. If you’re seeking a supportive workplace, varied opportunities, and a rewarding career, West Mercia could be the place for you.

We're a large enough force that there’s huge variety in the work we do, covering all types of policing; but we are small enough to be able to foster strong relationships both internally and with the communities we serve, demonstrated with consistently high rates of public confidence.

Who are we looking for?

We welcome applications from substantive Detective Inspectors, as well as substantive Detective Chief Inspectors. Applicants must have completed NPPF Step 4 and acquired PIP Level 2.

Candidates should demonstrate:

•    Proven command and leadership experience
•    Managing risk, performance, vulnerability  and investigation
•    A track record of improving services for the public
•    An ability to effectively engage with partners, stakeholders, and communities
•    Continuous non mandatory CPD activities

For further information on the role, purpose, and key accountabilities, please refer to the College of Policing’s Professional Profile for Chief Inspector which can be found here.

Vacancies

We currently have a number of Detective Chief Inspector roles across Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire within both Local Policing and Crime and Vulnerability Directorates.

Final posting decisions will take into account candidates’ skills, experience, and geographical locations.

Please note: Non detective accredited officers will not be considered for detective roles.
