Logistics and Recovery Driver
Greater Manchester Police is one of the largest police forces in the UK and is responsible for keeping its diverse population of almost three million people safe.
Business Support Services provides a wide range of specialist support to GMP to enable the Force to provide the best possible service to the people of Greater Manchester. The Branch is based at the Openshaw Complex, but also has teams at Nexus House, Force HQ and across the whole of GMP.
This role provides a vital link between Logistic and Front-Line Services
The role provides an on-demand, 24/7 transport service for Greater Manchester Police, covering a wide variety of logistical demands from collection and delivery services, to transporting a wide range of goods, throughout the force area. Furthermore, the Logistics team supply a full vehicle recovery service to the force.
Occasionally the role is asked to work outside of the boundaries of the GMP Force Area, usually performing a collection and delivery services throughout the UK.
The ideal candidate will have experience as a driver in a large-scale organisation with a complex fleet and be familiar with documentation and systems associated with the Logistics / Recovery industry.
It is essential to the role that the candidate holds a Category C Large Goods Vehicle License (any rigid vehicle). Furthermore, qualifications in Vehicle Recovery are highly desirable for the role but training will be provided for the ideal candidate. The candidate will be expected to undergo all necessary training needed for the role.
The starting salary, including shift allowances will be in the region of £31,488
