Volunteer - Cadet Scheme Leader - Milton Keynes

Are you enthusiastic about supporting and mentoring young people to develop their qualities and skills and enhance the relationship between the public and police? If so, Milton Keynes Police Cadets need you as a Volunteer Cadet Leader.

As a leader you will:

  • Help plan and deliver activities covering a wide range of topics from policing to every day skills like first aid.
  • Help arrange guest speakers and visits.
  • Support cadets’ participation in local policing initiatives.
  • Support cadets’ participation in community projects and events.
  • Mentor and encourage cadets as they develop into young adults, inspiring them to become positive role models within their communities.

Our cadets come from a wide range of backgrounds with differing needs and abilities, but are bound by a common interest in the police and having fun. As a leader, you don’t need any previous experience of working with young people, just a desire to help them learn and have a good time.

Any officer or member of police staff can volunteer as a leader. TVP supports cadet leaders through Employer Supported Policing which allows time off during rostered duties (subject to resilience levels) and paid expenses.

We meet Weekly/ fortnightly on a Wednesday evening to lead the Cadet lessons and occasionally on a weekend for community/ Policing events with Cadets.

The closing date for enquiries and receipt of completed applications is Sunday 6th October 2024.

As a volunteer within the police service, you will be subjected to a level of police vetting. The level will be dependent upon the role and it’s access requirements. With the higher levels of vetting, applicants could be asked to provide details of family members, partner, partner’s parents and co-residents, as well as additional information regarding their own personal circumstances. This process is required to ensure that Thames Valley Police comply with the legislation of the Vetting Code of Practice.

Whilst we endeavour to complete all vetting within 30 working days of receipt of vetting forms, unfortunately this is not always the case due to operational demand and back-logs, and could take considerably longer.

If you have any concerns or queries regarding your application please do not hesitate to get in touch.
