Volunteer - Cadet Scheme Leader (High Wycombe)
Volunteer post
Wycombe Cadet Unit are seeking volunteers to assist with our weekly cadet sessions.
The commitment to this will consist of a rotation amongst all cadet leaders in the Unit which includes sessions of approximately 2 hours (typically Wednesdays). The frequency of participation is rota dependent. This will involve supporting the development of young people in both classroom and active sessions, teaching a range of skills.
You are therefore passionate about this kind of work and able to engage with young people, or looking to further develop these skills yourself. On occasion you will be expected to lead a session yourself, having prepared this using resources provided to you. You will ensure thorough and suitable safeguarding of all young people. There will also be further activities on top of the weekly session.
The cadets are aged between 13 and 18 years old so we are looking for people who enjoy working with teenagers and can bring fun and engagement to sessions. It is a really diverse and fun group of cadets.

As a volunteer within the police service, you will be subjected to a level of police vetting. The level will be dependent upon the role and it’s access requirements. With the higher levels of vetting, applicants could be asked to provide details of family members, partner, partner’s parents and co-residents, as well as additional information regarding their own personal circumstances. This process is required to ensure that Thames Valley Police comply with the legislation of the Vetting Code of Practice.
Whilst we endeavour to complete all vetting within 30 working days of receipt of vetting forms, unfortunately this is not always the case due to operational demand and back-logs, and could take considerably longer.
If you have any concerns or queries regarding your application please do not hesitate to get in touch.
