The Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit (YHROCU) are inviting applications from all substantive Sergeants, plus those Officers promoted Sergeant under OSPRE who are within their 12 month probation and those temporarily promoted Sergeant under the NPPF. In addition, it is open to those Officers on the Constable to Sergeant promotion select list.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well‑established regional capability working jointly with police forces and partner agencies to tackle serious and organised crime across the region. The role involves leading investigations, supporting partner forces, and helping develop our staff and operational capability.

Role and Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team engaged in the investigation of serious and organised crime, ensuring high standards of professionalism and delivery.
Support Home Forces and partner agencies across the region in tackling organised criminality, providing investigative leadership and operational assistance where required.
Develop and manage staff, including setting clear expectations, maintaining discipline, managing welfare matters, and identifying training and development needs.
Prepare and supervise case files, ensuring accuracy, quality and timeliness, and monitor the casework produced by staff under your command.
Maintain regular liaison with district representatives, external agencies and other forces to ensure effective information sharing and joint working.
Provide support and guidance to less experienced officers, helping to develop capability across the wider team.
Assist in major crime enquiries and disruption activity, contributing specialist knowledge and working collaboratively at all levels.
Provide advice on organised crime matters to regional officers and other members of the Organised Crime Unit.
Record decisions and rationale accurately in line with the National Decision Model (NDM).
Manage budgets as directed, ensuring resources are used appropriately and in line with organisational requirements.
