Job role: Investigative Support Officer
Location: Ridings House, Wakefield
Salary: £33,603 - £35,772
Contract: Part time (22.12 hours), Permanent
As an Investigative Support Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting major investigations by managing complex case files, undertaking disclosure responsibilities and providing specialist support to officers and staff involved in criminal investigations. Working closely with investigators, the Crown Prosecution Service and criminal justice partners, you will help ensure cases are prepared to the highest standard and progress effectively through the justice system.
Career Progression Opportunity
Join at Scale 6 and develop into an Advanced Investigative Support Officer through a fully supported specialist training programme. Upon successful completion of the CILEX Specialist Course in Disclosure and the Investigative Support Officer Accreditation Portfolio, you will automatically progress to the advanced role and receive a salary increase.
As part of your development, you will be supported to undertake and complete the CILEX Specialist Course in Disclosure and the Investigative Support Officer Accreditation Portfolio. This development programme typically takes approximately 12 months to complete, although timescales may vary depending on operational demands, role commitments and workload.

Upon successful completion of the required specialist qualification and accreditation portfolio, you will automatically progress to the Advanced Investigative Support Officer role, where your salary will increase to £37,020 – £39,276.
Role and Responsibilities
You will support serious and complex investigations by preparing prosecution files, managing disclosure requirements and ensuring compliance with criminal justice legislation and procedures. Working within a specialist investigative environment, you will contribute to achieving positive criminal justice outcomes for victims and communities
Key duties include:
- Assisting with the preparation and management of complex prosecution files
- Supporting disclosure processes in accordance with legislation and national guidance
- Liaising with investigators, legal professionals and partner agencies
- Interviewing witnesses and obtaining evidential statements
- Attending court proceedings and case conferences when required
- Using specialist police systems and databases to support investigations
- Providing file build and disclosure support during serious and major crime investigations

What We're Looking For
We are seeking candidates who:
- Hold a CILEX Certificate in Criminal Justice Administration (or equivalent qualification e.g. Law Degree, A Level Law)
- Have the ability and commitment to successfully complete specialist training
- Possess excellent organisational, communication and analytical skills
- Can manage complex information accurately and effectively
- Work well under pressure and meet demanding deadlines
- Are committed to delivering high standards of service and professionalism
- Working knowledge of Disclosures
- Attend court when required – be able to travel across West Yorkshire
- Prepared to work flexible hours and/or additional hours in accordance with departmental working
