West Yorkshire Police is looking to recruit a Investigative Support Assistant to join Protective Services, Crime, based in Wakefield. This recruitment will fill one immediate vacancy, with the creation of a succession plan, should any further vacancies become available in the next 6 months. 

In this role, you will be an integral part of an Investigation Team providing administrative support to the Investigative Support Officers - responsible for the complex case building function, in relation to the investigation of major crime, to result in the successful prosecution of offenders.

The successful candidates will have excellent organisational skills as well as a good command of English, both verbally and in writing. Within one year of appointment, candidates must be willing to undertake, and successfully complete, an in-house file-build and disclosure course, as well as a portfolio. This in turn will lead from progression from Scale 4 Entry ISA to Scale 5 Advanced ISA. Candidates will also be required to successfully complete other relevant training required for the role.

A basic working knowledge of the Criminal Justice System, and relevant partner agencies, is a requirement, as is the ability to use computerised applications, including spreadsheet packages, and to extract information from databases.

Applicants must be able work flexibly to suit business need and be willing and able to travel for business purposes. Applicants must also be able to work at other sites across the Force area as and when required. The role of Investigative Support Assistant also requires the ability to deal with cases that could be of an explicit or disturbing nature.

Successful candidates will normally be appointed to the bottom scale point of the grade, within the Career Progression Scheme, based on the role entry requirements.  Subject to approval, an appointment may, however, be made to a higher scale point where qualifications, skills and experience are commensurate.
