West Yorkshire Police is looking to recruit for its public Help Desks. Sound communication ability and a real commitment to delivering excellent customer service are essential attributes for the role.
The Role
Based at the front counter of our police stations, a Help Desk Officer is the interface between West Yorkshire Police and the public. You will receive, evaluate, and record enquiries; in person, via telephone, e-mail, and other police systems, providing guidance and support so that all enquiries are dealt with appropriately.
Help Desk Officers provide a key service to victims of crime in West Yorkshire, many of whom choose to attend the station so they can talk to someone face-to-face. This brings great opportunities to make a real difference to people on a daily basis.
No two days, or enquiries, will ever be alike!
What we need from you
• The ability to use computers - training will be provided on specific systems.
• A drive for providing excellent customer service.
• The ability to communicate clearly and, in particular, to deal with challenging customers with empathy.
• Resilience to deal with distressed victims and extremely sensitive issues.
Why work for West Yorkshire Police?

• A generous LGPS (Local Government Pension Scheme).
• An Employee Assistance Service (EAS) – 24/7 access to helplines, online resources, and services to support the wellbeing of you and your family.
• The option to participate in a ‘cycle to work’ scheme. This enables you to lease a brand-new cycle and pay for it via salary- sacrifice deductions.
• The option to participate in the emergency services discount scheme known as ‘Blue Light’ - providing members with thousands of discounts both online and on the high street.
• Talent management scheme.
• Lease car scheme - enables you to lease a brand-new car and pay for it via salary-sacrifice deductions.
