Vacancy - Taser Instructor (Taser Training and Development Unit)

Location: Carr Gate Training Centre, Wakefield

Are you passionate about developing others, maintaining the highest standards of officer safety training and helping to equip officers with the skills and confidence they need to protect the public?

We are seeking a motivated and capable individual to join the Taser Training and Development Unit (TTDU) as a Taser Instructor based at Carr Gate Training Centre, Wakefield.

Job Role:

  • Responsible for delivering initial and refresher Taser courses
  • Assess competence, and ensuring Officers remain trained to National and Force standards
  • Contribute to the continous improvement of training programmes
  • Influence Officer safety training and support the effective and lawful deployment of Taser.

What we are looking for: 

  • Individuals who possess excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to engage, motivate and develop learner from a wide range of operational backgrounds
  • Be confident in providing constructive feedback, maintaining accurate records and supporting quality assurance processes 
  • Strong organisational skills, operational judgement and commitment to maintaining professional standards
  • Experience in delivering training, coaching or mentoring others would be an advantage 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation

 This specialist role requires applicants who can demonstrate experience of Taser, ideally having previously been a Taser user or having delivered/assisted in CED‑related training.

The role is based at Carr Gate Training Centre and will generally be worked Monday to Friday. However, flexibility may be required to meet operational and training demands.
