Witness Care Supervisor - Truro Crown and Cornwall Magistrates Courts

The principal responsibility of the Witness Care Supervisor is to supervise a team managing delegation of workloads in accordance with the Victims Code, Witness Charter, No Witness No Justice Requirement and the 2012 EU Directive for Victims. Ensuring a quality service is provided for victims and witnesses in all Prosecution cases securing attendance in both Magistrates and Crown Courts and case progression through the Criminal Justice System.  In particular to:

  • Supervise, monitor, allocate and motivate the work of teams and individuals to ensure compliance with the Victims Code, WCU Working Practices and Force Policy are complied with (PDR / Attendance Support / Leave / Working time etc).
  • Provide necessary training, mentoring, and coaching for team members, to assist with the continued professional development.
  • Build, maintain and continue to develop relationships with external partners such as Judiciary, Prosecution and Defence Counsel HMCTS, CPS, Witness Service etc in support of effective service provision.
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to colleagues. including training inputs to teams.
  • Regularly review, amend and revise working practices and recommend change to Force policy. Following engagement with other Force areas and external partners as appropriate.
