Volunteer Police Cadet Leader

Volunteer Police Cadet Leader

Develop Others. Develop Yourself. Inspire the Next Generation.

Are you looking for a rewarding development opportunity that allows you to make a real difference to young people across North Yorkshire?

We're looking for volunteers to join our Volunteer Police Cadet teams and help inspire the next generation of community leaders.

As a Cadet Leader, you'll use your existing skills and experience to support young people aged 13–18 as they learn about policing, teamwork, leadership and serving their communities. In return, you'll gain valuable experience in mentoring, coaching, communication and leadership as well as positively impact the next generation.

Why get involved?

This is more than volunteering; it's an opportunity to contribute to one of North Yorkshire Police's most important youth engagement programmes whilst developing your own skills and experience.

As a Cadet Leader, you'll:

  • Positively influence the lives of local young people
  • Develop coaching, mentoring and leadership skills
  • Represent North Yorkshire Police in the community
  • Share your knowledge and experience with cadets
  • Build confidence in presenting, planning and leading activities
  • Be part of a supportive and enthusiastic team

What will you do?

Cadet sessions are designed to be engaging, practical and fun. You'll support cadets as they take part in activities such as:

  • Learning about different areas of policing
  • Meeting specialist teams including Dog Section, Roads Policing and CSI
  • Community projects and engagement events
  • Leadership and team-building challenges
  • Physical activities and practical exercises
  • Developing life skills, confidence and resilience

No previous experience of working with young people is required, just enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to help others learn and grow.

Could this be your next development opportunity?

Many Cadet Leaders find the role incredibly rewarding. Watching young people grow in confidence, achieve their goals and develop new skills is one of the most enjoyable parts of the role.

If you're passionate about making a difference and looking for a meaningful opportunity to broaden your skills, we'd love to hear from you.

A few hours a month could help shape a young person's future and provide valuable development for your own.

We have multiple Police Cadet units across North Yorkshire that are recruiting for Cadet Leaders, so there is likely to be one near you! We are recruiting for Cadet Leaders at:
