Volunteer Photographer

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is seeking a Volunteer Photographer to help showcase the incredible work of our Citizens in Policing volunteers. Through your photography, you will capture the dedication, diversity and positive impact of volunteers across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, helping to tell their stories and celebrate their achievements.
About the Role
As a Volunteer Photographer, you will attend a variety of events and activities, capturing high-quality images that highlight the contribution of volunteers across the Force. From community engagement events and training sessions to awards ceremonies and special initiatives, your photographs will support both internal and external communications.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an enthusiastic photographer who enjoys working with people and wants to contribute their skills to support policing and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Attend agreed events and activities to take photographs.
2. Capture high-quality images that reflect the professionalism and diversity of Citizens in Policing programmes.
3. Select and edit photographs to a suitable standard for publication.
4. Provide images within agreed timescales following events.
5. Follow organisational guidance relating to image consent, privacy and data protection.
6. Ensure photographs are appropriate for use across internal and external communications channels, including social media, websites, newsletters and promotional materials.
7. Maintain own photography equipment and ensure it is fit for purpose.
8. Liaise with the Citizens in Policing team regarding photography requirements and deadlines.
9. Represent Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary in a professional and positive manner.
10.To give a regular and effective service.
What We're Looking For
Essential Skills and Experience
- Own a digital camera and associated equipment suitable for event photography.
- Demonstrable ability to take high-quality photographs in a variety of settings.
- Experience of basic photo editing and image processing.
- Knowledge of and access to image management software such as Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop or equivalent.
- Good attention to detail and creativity.
- Reliable, organised and able to meet agreed deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and professionalism.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Previous experience volunteering or working as a photographer.
- Experience photographing events, community activities or people.
- Understanding of photography consent requirements and GDPR considerations.
