About the team
This role is part of a small but effective unit called the National Lead Force Victim Care Unit (VCU) This has been created to support the National Fraud Investigation teams, with the aim to provide centralised services to victims of fraud involved in cases that are being investigated by the City of London Police.
This role will primarily be to provide continued case information and support to victims of fraud throughout the duration of the investigation. This will also include advocacy, support, prevention advice and signposting to relevant support agencies where appropriate

About the role
The primary objectives of VCU are to ensure that the needs of victims are met in line with the Victims Code Of Practice, to ensure victims feel safe and supported during the course of investigations and to provide prevent advice to avoid revictimization.
To provide suitable signposting to other agencies and contact approved service suppliers for further support.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be expected:
- To support City of London Police investigators and other organisations in being a public face of the VCU, being part of the initial contact, advice and referral process at the start and throughout investigations.
- Act as a conduit between victims and Police Officers (OICs) when required in order to maintain an accurate flow of communication.
- Responsible for collating victim information and maintaining such information as accurate on the victim management database. - Input, update and retrieve victim related data into and from a number of different force systems.This includes the victim management database and crime recording
on Report Fraud
- Provide a customer focussed service by building and maintaining effective relationships with victims and witnesses by telephone, RCS, email or letter.
Requirements

- Excellent public facing skills to enable effective information gathering and victim support and assistance.
- Experience in database population and information recording.
- To be able to deal sensitively with challenging and emotionally charged situations, demonstrating empathy whilst controlling own emotions.
- To be able to work constructively with a range of partner agencies – both within the police service and externally.
- Understanding of the crime recording and investigative process.
This vacancy is open only to those who have the right to work in the UK. Also, due to this role requiring MV/SC level vetting, you need to have continuously resided in the UK for the last 5 years. This residency needs to be in the immediate 5 years prior to this application.
