Vetting Officer (Part-Time)

About the Role

As a vetting officer with Lincolnshire Police, you will play a crucial role in helping to protect the communities we serve, to ensure that public trust and confidence in the police service is maintained and that the safety, security and integrity of our organisation, its assets and its information is not compromised in any way.

You will conduct a range of background checks on all applicants looking to work with Lincolnshire Police, whether as police officers, staff members, contractors or partners, in order to make a well-informed and carefully considered assessment on their suitability to be granted the vetting clearance their role requires.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Conducting and completing checks across all levels of security vetting for applicants, staff, contractors and partners
  • Making informed decisions on granting, declining or withdrawing vetting clearances in line with national policy and guidance and after conducting a thorough risk assessment
  • Identifying and escalating complex or sensitive cases requiring senior review
  • Maintaining accurate records and audit trails for all vetting decisions
  • Carrying out vetting interviews and writing reports to rationalise and support vetting outcomes
  • Identifying data discrepancies and ensuring corrections are made or issues are referred to relevant teams
  • Supporting wider team activities during peak periods as required

  • Experience in vetting, security, HR, or a related field (desirable)
