The Specialist Operations Branch is looking to recruit a full time Vehicle Examiner. This post is based within the Safer Transport Coordination Unit at Eccles.
The successful candidate is responsible to the Vehicle Examination Supervisor in the Safer Transport Coordination Unit and will be required to but not limited to:
• Provide a comprehensive vehicle examination service on behalf of the service.
• To collate and present the findings so as to maximise their evidential value on vehicle related prosecutions.
• To draft, assemble and prepare complex reports/files and statements of evidence, including the use of personal interviews.
• Liaise with the CPS, staff within GMP, experts relevant to investigations.
• To attend Civil, Crown, Magistrates, High and Coroner’s Court.

To be short-listed for interview, applicants should provide evidence for each essential and desirable criteria marked AF (application form) from the job description. You should limit your responses to no more than 150 words for each criteria.

Please note that this is a career graded post, meaning you will have the opportunity to move up to Grade G once in the unit and in accordance with the career grade progression scheme.

Should you pass the paper sift process, you will be invited in for a 2 hour vehicle assessment/exam as per dates shown, this is a pass/fail process. Should you be successful after this process you will be invited back for a final competency based interview which will last 1 hour, dates as shown, however if you fail the Vehicle Exam you will not progress any further in the process.
