The Location

Working in Kirkwall will give the successful applicant the opportunity to become part of a close-knit community and make a genuine difference to the people who live and work across Orkney.

You will join a team consisting of officers from all over Scotland who have made Orkney their home. Once settled into island life you never feel the remoteness of the location due to the strong community bond local police have on the island.

Key information

  • You will qualify for a £1998 island allowance.
  • Reasonable Relocation expenses (agreed in advance) is available which can be discussed with prospective applicants.
  • You will work a 2x2x2 shift pattern.
  • Single Occupancy Accommodation may be available
  • You will receive 3 concessionary return trips to the mainland per financial year.

Successful applicants will be enthusiastic, motivated, and display an open leadership style, encouraging originality, initiative, and continuous improvement amongst staff.

You will be required to work on your own initiative, demonstrate sound organisational skills, and can manage a varied, and at times, challenging workload.
