Transferee Constable - Armed Response Vehicle Officer

Derbyshire Constabulary are recruiting experienced Armed Response Vehicle Officers - Transferee Constables

Our Armed Response Unit responds to spontaneous and planned firearms incidents across our county. We provide the force's initial response to events such as bomb threats or explosions and suspected improvised explosive devices.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You will provide the force with a 24 hour Method of Entry (MOE) and drone capacity so we can respond immediately.
  • You will pro-actively support divisions and support the force priorities and other related activities.
  • You will carry out certain aspects of the role of a Roads Policing Constable, including dealing with incidents on Fast Roads.
  • You will be expected to contribute fully to Operational Support Department’s aims and objectives supporting the Force Commitment and Values.
  • You are expected to maintain levels of fitness and training commensurate with their role. 
  • You will be expected to develop firearms specialisms and command roles and will be required to attend additional internal and external courses during their firearms career as decided by supervision. By applying for this role, you are agreeing to this.

To be accepted as a transferee you must:

  • Be confirmed in the rank of Constable
  • Be a member of a Home Office force or Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) or Police Scotland (please note we cannot accept an application to transfer from an officer serving with a non-Home Office police force).
  • Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues.
  • Have a full manual driving licence

The Armed Response Unit currently operates a 12-hour, 4 days on, 4 days off shift system across 10 weeks. This is to accommodate two weeks of Basic Firearms Training within the shift pattern which consists of three, 10/11 hour days (Tues - Thurs).
