The Protecting Vulnerable People department is a new team and was developed as part of Operation Unified – the force’s structural changes to help improve outcomes and provide a better service to victims. As a PVP DC, you will work closely with victims, where experience of safeguarding and maintaining a supportive approach is imperative.
We’re looking for transferees who can demonstrate their interest and commitment to this area of policing.
What will I be doing?
· Investigate offences of rape, penetrative sexual offences, familial child abuse, and serious cases relating to vulnerable adults where there are issues of care and control.
· Ensure investigations are suspect-focused, victim-centred, and context-led in line with Operation Soteria principles.
· Undertake safeguarding assessments with the victim’s safety a primary objective, whilst considering the wider public’s safety and ensuring the risk is mitigated wherever possible.
What do I need?
· Knowledge and understanding of ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023’.
· Knowledge and understanding of the principles of Operation Soteria (the National Operating Model for rape).
· Knowledge and understanding of the current legislation and process protocols on child sexual offences and sexual exploitation.
