Transfer / Secondment - CTPNW - Intelligence Development Unit Supervisor - Sergeant - Intelligence Unit - 1894145, - Ref:1894145

Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) is a five-force collaboration delivering Counter Terrorism (CT) services to our regional forces as well as forming part of the national CT Network. CTPNW’s mission is to work together to keep people safe from terrorism.

We are looking for a committed and outstanding individual who can support CTPNW in achieving its mission.

This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably experienced Police Sergeant or Detective Sergeant who wishes to work within a proactive, intelligence role which is critical to the assessment, intervention and disruption of terrorism related threat, harm and risk in the Greater Manchester area.

The work of the IDU includes, but is not limited to:

- Research and development of subjects of interest to CTPNW - utilising local systems such as PNC, PND, IOPS and secure CT systems.
- Completing outside enquiries, debriefing subjects and overt intelligence gathering - providing thorough written updates and reports.
- Collection of CCTV or other exhibits - within force and occasionally across the region and country, maintaining evidential continuity.
- Triage and review of digital media for the purposes of supporting intelligence development and the assessment of threat, harm and risk.
- Regular liaison with other CTPNW teams to progress operational activity, including intelligence, offender management, and investigative units.

As supervisor of the IDU, you will be responsible for the operational delivery and the welfare of a team consisting of five Constables. The shift pattern is primarily 0700-1500 Monday – Friday, with potential flexibility if required. The role is based at GMP HQ, with parking and nearby public transport links. Applicants must be operationally deployable, with in date PPST, and able to regularly support operational activity alongside the team.

Applications are welcomed from PIP2 and PIP1 accredited officers; whilst completion of the ICIDP is desirable, it is not essential for candidates with suitable experience in proactive or intelligence-led policing.

Please note: As part of this application process, there is NO requirement to address the full AF essential criteria outlined on the job description. Applicants should instead answer each of the following questions clearly within their supporting statement (limit of 150 words per question):

1. Provide an example where you have identified an operational threat or risk, and describe how you took action to assess and mitigate this.
2. Describe a time when you have taken appropriate action to improve the operational performance of a member of your team.
3. Explain a time when you have led a team to carry out investigative or intelligence gathering activity in compliance with national standards and legislation.
4. Describe a situation where you have been responsible for managing limited resources effectively in order to meet challenging operational demand.
5. Provide an example demonstrating your ability to work effectively with partners (internal or external) despite differences in opinion or objectives.
6. Describe how you maintain your social, cultural and political awareness, and the effect that national/international activity can have on local communities.
