Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) is a five-force collaboration delivering Counter Terrorism (CT) services to our regional forces as well as forming part of the national CT Network. CTPNW’s mission is to work together to keep people safe from terrorism.

We are looking for a committed and outstanding individual who can support CTPNW in achieving its mission.

A cover officer primary role is the security and welfare of undercover police officers. A Counter Terrorism (CT) cover officer is part of the CT undercover team but also support the transfer of information and evidence to and from the operational team, whilst ensuring a sterile corridor is maintained to identify and disrupt individuals involved in terrorism.

This is a dynamic and exciting role which will involve working with a range of police departments and partner agencies which requires excellent communication and decision-making skills with the ability to identify threat, harm and risk.

In order to respond to investigative or safety requirements the post requires working some unsociable hours at short notice and supporting a 24-hour cover rota.

It is a requirement that cover officers will have successfully passed (or to pass following successful interview) the accredited course to retain the posting.

Due to the unique nature of this role, the interview stage of the shortlisting will also include scenario-based questions which will not have the 30 minutes preparation time.

This post will be based at GMP Force Headquarters, but there will be a requirement to work from other premises.
