About the role
Training Officer - Leadership and Professional Development
We are looking for an experienced leadership development and learning professional to join our Leadership & Professional Development Team. This is an opportunity to design, develop, deliver and evaluate high-quality leadership and professional development programmes which support leaders at every stage of their career journey - from first line supervisors through to senior leaders.
You'll work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation to identify leadership development needs, design innovative learning solutions and facilitate engaging learning experiences that build leadership capability, improve organisational performance and promote a culture of continuous professional development.
Working closely with the Leadership Learning and Development Manager, you'll play an important role in shaping the leaders who influence policing across the West Midlands. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deliver and evaluate innovative leadership and professional development programmes using classroom, virtual, digital and experiential learning methods.
- Facilitate engaging leadership development workshops and learning experiences for police officers, police staff and leaders at all levels of the organisation.
- Develop blended learning solutions that support leadership capability, accessibility and learner engagement.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to identify leadership development needs and recommend effective learning solutions aligned to organisational priorities.
- Evaluate programme effectiveness through feedback, quality assurance and learning evaluation to drive improvement.
- Promote reflective practice, inclusive leadership and continuous professional development aligned with the College of Policing Leadership Standards.
- Contribute to wider organisational learning initiatives, leadership strategies and a culture of continuous improvement.
Who We're Looking For
You'll have significant experience designing and delivering leadership development programmes and be confident facilitating learning for managers and senior leaders. You're someone who enjoys building relationships, influencing stakeholders and creating learning that genuinely changes leadership behaviours. If you're passionate about developing leaders this could be the opportunity you're looking for.
You'll bring experience of:
- Leadership development programme design and facilitation
- Working with leaders and managers.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
- Experience evaluating learning and driving continuous improvement.
A recognised training or teaching qualification (meeting the Level 4 Trainer Standard or equivalent) is essential.
