The Specialist Operations Branch is looking to recruit a full time Dog Training Manager to work within the Dog Training Unit at the Hough End Complex.
This role is to provide administrative support to the Dog Training Unit, including the leadership and day‑to‑day supervision of a team of training staff under the direction of the Unit Inspector.
The postholder will ensure that all training activity is accurately recorded in line with national guidance and maintained on the appropriate systems. They will also be responsible for creating and managing the Dog Training Calendar covering the upcoming 24 months.
This will involve working closely with the Dog Training Sergeant and the role will oversee the effective allocation of courses and training, supporting all aspects of the management and supervision of the Dog Training Unit.
Will ensure that all training is conducted with appropriate documentation – lesson plans, Risk Assessments, Indemnities
The role will additionally lead on long‑term succession planning for specialist training requirements for both handlers and dogs.
The postholder will also assist in the creation and ongoing maintenance of the Dog Unit STRA.
The successful candidate will have proven experience working within a busy training environment and demonstrate the ability to understand and balance the complexities of coordinating multi‑disciplinary training demands.
They will possess strong IT capability, with confidence in creating, maintaining, and utilising GMP systems to a high standard.
The candidate must be able to present training needs, key findings, and relevant recommendations to senior officers in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
