If so, you should apply to become a Taxi Compliance Volunteer. The purpose of this volunteering role is to provide support to the Taxi Compliance Police Officer to ensure private hire & hackney carriage vehicles and drivers adhere to the correct legislation and statutory provisions.
In this role you will be supporting the officer with a range of administrative tasks such as:
- Attending locations within Avon and Somerset on pre-determined dates in company with Taxi Compliance Officer.
- Inspecting vehicles for compliance with road traffic law and licencing conditions for example, lights, brakes, tyres, brake discs.
- Drafting paperwork following the paperwork (prohibition notices, non-compliance notices).
As a taxi compliance volunteer you will have flexibility around how often you wish to volunteer, to fit in with other commitments and volunteering hours can be accommodated 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
The role is based at The Bridewell police station but covers the Avon and Somerset force area. The nature of the role may at times require you to complete tasks under your own initiative and with minimal supervision. You will need to be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
