The principal responsibility of the Forensic Submissions Support Officer is to support the Forensic Submissions team in this multi-functioning and physical role, by undertaking a broad range of exhibit handling, data entry and general administrative duties.
In particular to:
Manage the receipt and dispatch of exhibits from internal and external couriers, South West Forensics departments and hand deliveries from officers.
Manage logistics of exhibit transfer to and from external laboratories, and regional Force sites including exhibit property stores.
Check the integrity and quality of exhibit deliveries to ensure evidence preservation and chain of continuity and making enquiries to resolve and correct any discrepancies.
Use Force systems including the forensic case management system to update exhibit continuity, check and amend data for quality, and to maintain records for transparency and disclosure as part of the Criminal Justice System.
Manage exhibit data archive, weeding and destruction in line with MOPI guidance and legislation.
Provide administrative support to the wider Forensic Submissions team.
Applying Quality Standards (specifically BS EN ISO 17025 and 17020) and to be compliant with ISO 9001 contributing to new processes and standard operating procedures.
This list of duties is not restrictive or exhaustive and the post-holder may be required to carry out duties from time to time that are either commensurate with/or lower than the grade of the post. In some posts this might include the ad-hoc provision of guidance and informal training of new colleagues.
