Surveillance Operative

The role of the Surveillance operative is to plan, brief, direct and participate in covert surveillance activities within the Specialist Crime Operations Unit. The successful applicant will provide tactical advice to Senior Investigating Officers on the deployment of covert surveillance operatives and equipment to support operations. This includes targeting serious & organised crime adopted through the Force Covert Tasking process and Major Crime investigations.

The Surveillance operative will coordinate with other resources including Roads Policing Unit, Firearms and others as required to achieve the objectives of the investigation.

The position will also involve supporting Specialist Crime Investigations through the completion of actions and investigative roles allocated by supervision.

The position forms part of the SCOU Team and is supervised by a Detective Sergeant and Detective Inspector, who will be responsible for their tasking, management of workload, performance issues, professional development and welfare.
