About the role
Join our Supplies Department and play a vital role in delivering a customer-focused procurement and financial service across the Force.
As a Supplies Officer, you will use your expertise in procurement contracts, financial regulations and supply chain management to ensure the efficient purchasing, management and distribution of goods and services.
Working as part of a collaborative one-team environment, you will help deliver best value, maintain accurate records and stock controls, and support the smooth operation of the Force through effective procurement and financial processes.
What you will be doing
- Provide a professional and customer-focused procurement and financial service, acting as a first point of contact for suppliers and internal customers.
- Process supplier invoices, including specialised and high-value orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations and contractual obligations.
- Raise and manage purchase orders for goods and services, ensuring orders, receipts and invoices are accurately checked and reconciled.
- Manage stock inventories, undertake regular stock audits, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accurate stock and pricing records.
- Research products, suppliers and procurement solutions to ensure best value and provide advice on the most appropriate purchasing approach.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, contracted service providers, regional procurement teams and partner forces to support service delivery and problem solving.
- Produce and analyse purchasing, stock and financial data to support reporting, forecasting, budget monitoring and year-end financial processes.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental systems and processes while providing flexible support across the Supplies Department as required.
About you and your experience
- Experience of working within a finance, purchasing or accounts administration function.
- Experience of using computerised systems and databases to maintain accurate records and process information.
- Experience of processing orders, invoices and financial transactions with a high level of accuracy.
- Experience of raising, managing and reconciling purchase orders.
