SARs Coordinator Post/Financial investigator - 2 year temporary post, based at Penrith police HQ.
.
.
An opportunity has arisen for two civilian Financial Investigators to join the Economic Crime Unit, based at Penrith Police HQ, Carleton Hall, Penrith.
.
The successful candidates will assist with providing a pro-active and reactive response in relation to economic crime investigations, targeting and disrupting organised crime groups and/or individual offenders, considering the priorities of threat, harm and risk priorities, and supporting the investigation of economic crime through criminal and civil legislation.
.
In particular, the role will focus on the development of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) intelligence as a tool to target and disrupt offenders by exploiting opportunities to remove criminal cash/recoverable property, utilising criminal and civil powers as appropriate.
.
The post will be based at Penrith and will be predominantly based around core office hours, though some flexibility will be required to support crime operations that fall outside of these times.
.
The post is open to those who either hold the relevant financial investigation qualifications (please see attached role profile for details) or who are willing to undertake the necessary training to obtain the qualifications in post.
.
The starting point for the role will be Police Staff Pay Scale SO2 - PO2, rising to PO 5 - 8 upon successful qualification to Financial Investigator status.
.
The role is primarily based at Penrith HQ, but there may by opportunities to work at other police stations within the force after initial training and mentoring are complete.
.
An applicant would need to have a full driving licence as the role is likely to require travel throughout the county, and to courts within Cumbria and occasionally into the Lancashire area. Flexible working applications would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
.
I would highly recommend that anyone wishing to apply, contacts either Detective Chief Inspector Amanda Sykes on amanda.sykes@cumbria.police.uk or Detective Inspector Jamie Eaton on jamie.eaton2@cumbria.police to have an informal discussion about the requirements of the role. This is a complex and demanding role and a background in policing and or/financial investigation would be desirable.
