Staff - Communications Data Investigator

Purpose of the job

To be a Home Office accredited Single Point of Contact (SPOC) to lawfully facilitate the Acquisition of Communications Data, ensuring effective co-operation between Northamptonshire Police and telecommunication/postal operators.

Set communications data investigative strategies for all serious and complex criminal investigations.

Provide oversight of policy and advice to practitioners across Northamptonshire Police exercising powers available to them under the Investigatory Powers Act 2016.

This role is on a 9- week rolling shift pattern which includes days, lates, weekends and on call and attracts additional compensation including shift enhancements and standby allowance.

This role necessitates a variety of knowledge and skill set and therefore is graded on a progressive scale. The Postholders must evidence experience and knowledge before progressing to the higher scale and this will be complimented by the completion of an on-the-job portfolio, illustrating competency. The portfolio can be made available to applicants.
