This role is being advertised on a temporary basis for 2 years with potential to become permanent in the future.
Are you an experienced information governance, audit or data protection professional looking for a role where your work has real impact?
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting lawful, ethical and secure use of information within Cheshire Constabulary. As Data Protection Compliance Lead, you will help strengthen compliance, monitor and evaluate risk and promote public confidence in the way information is handled across the organisation.
You will lead and coordinate a small team responsible for data sharing agreements, Data Protection Impact Assessments, audits, reviews, transaction monitoring, compliance checks and security breach investigations. This will include helping to shape and deliver a risk-based audit programme, reviewing data breaches and near misses, supporting site visits, and identifying opportunities to improve information handling practice across the Force.
You will also provide advice and guidance to colleagues, stakeholders and members of the public, helping to promote strong information standards through engagement, awareness and training. Working closely with the Data Protection Officer and Information Compliance Manager, you will contribute to wider assurance activity and support the effective management of information risks.
We are looking for someone who is organised, analytical and confident working independently. You will bring experience in audit, risk, security or compliance activity, with the ability to interpret information, present findings clearly and support others to deliver high-quality work. A good understanding of data protection requirements is important, and supervisory experience would be beneficial.
This role would suit someone who is methodical, curious and confident in constructively challenging and advising others. If you are passionate about information integrity, responsible data handling and supporting ethical policing, we would welcome your application.
