Hours: 37 hours per week

Be the Difference When Victims Need It Most
As a Sexual Offences Liaison Officer, you will act as the dedicated point of contact for victims of rape and serious sexual offences, providing professional, trauma-informed support throughout their journey through the criminal justice process. This is a challenging but incredibly rewarding role where your work will directly contribute to safeguarding vulnerable people, supporting investigations and improving outcomes for victims.
Working within the SOLAR team, you will help create a safe and supportive environment for victims, ensuring they receive the care, information and advocacy they deserve while enabling investigators to focus on building strong, suspect-focused investigations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide an initial response to reports of rape and serious sexual offences using a trauma-informed approach.
- Support victims throughout investigations as their dedicated point of contact.
- Complete Victim Needs Assessments and ensure victims receive their enhanced rights.
- Deliver updates in line with the Victims' Code of Practice.
- Conduct Video Recorded Interviews (VRIs).
- Develop and coordinate safeguarding plans to protect victims from further harm.
- Support victims through court proceedings.
- Work closely with partner agencies and internal departments to achieve the best outcomes.
- Promote victim-focused initiatives including Victim Impact Statements and Victims' Right to Review.
- Conduct suspect interviews and contribute to investigations.
About You
We are seeking individuals who are passionate about safeguarding and supporting vulnerable people. You will be able to demonstrate:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, resilience and professionalism when working with victims of trauma.
- Experience of working collaboratively with internal and external partners.
- A commitment to safeguarding and victim-centred approaches.
- The ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion principles.
- A full driving licence and willingness to work shifts and undertake Public and Personal Safety Training (PPST).
