About the role
As a Senior Infrastructure Operations Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering the secure, resilient and high-performing infrastructure services that enable modern policing. Working across on-premise and cloud environments, you'll provide advanced technical expertise, resolve complex operational challenges and help drive continuous improvement through automation and modern engineering practices. Collaborating with architects, security specialists and service teams, you'll help ensure critical digital services remain available, reliable and ready to support frontline policing and the communities we serve.
What you will be doing
- Provide senior technical support across on-premise and cloud infrastructure platforms, ensuring reliable, secure and resilient services.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex incidents, problems and changes, leading technical investigation and resolution.
- Monitor, maintain and optimise live infrastructure services to ensure performance, availability and operational stability.
- Support infrastructure resilience, backup and disaster recovery activities to strengthen operational readiness.
- Implement infrastructure changes and releases, ensuring services are introduced safely and effectively.
- Drive automation, standardisation and continual improvement to improve efficiency and service reliability.
- Provide technical expertise to projects and service transitions, ensuring solutions are operationally ready and supportable.
- Coach and mentor colleagues, sharing knowledge and helping develop infrastructure engineering capability across the team.
About you and your experience
- ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
- Degree in Computing, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104) certification, or an equivalent cloud operations qualification.
- Experience supporting and operating enterprise infrastructure services within complex production environments.
- Strong understanding of cloud and hybrid infrastructure operations, service resilience and operational support.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in live environments.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with evolving DDaT technologies, cloud services and engineering practices.
