Job Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Salary: The starting salary is £63,409, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.
The salary is broken down as £60,400 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £65,886. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: London & Hybrid (60% / 3-days per week in office). You can choose a ‘home base’ Met location from: Lambeth, Southwark, Bow, Hendon or Sidcup. We offer the flexibility to work in a Hybrid way, where you can deliver your best, including Working from Home (WFH). Travel across the Met Estate, to attend meetings as required by the business, is expected.

Job Purpose
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer within the Data Office, you will lead a dedicated team responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and managing the Data Offices IT infrastructure. Your role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation of software and servers, addressing IT issues promptly, and overseeing the administration of Microsoft Windows Servers, Active Directory, SQL databases and Microsoft Azure services.
You will manage a part of this innovative and enthusiastic team, tasked with designing and deploying a range of different IT technology solutions. Your work will include liaising with internal customers and external suppliers to support development teams and deliver systems required by a variety of other MPS units, as well as managing deployments into the production system.
Key Role Responsibilities
You will be responsible for providing architectural oversight, ensuring the security and stability of live, operational systems whilst acting as an authority on various technology matters, being able to explore opportunities to enhance the technology infrastructure as managed by your team.
Along with your technical background, you will provide line management, leadership, and technical mentoring and assistance to your team. Within the team, you will be expected to conduct meetings, schedule workloads and adopt and contribute to the department’s development process and methodology.

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post.
Working Pattern
Permanent, Full-Time (36-hours per week)
Hybrid Working available in line with the Metropolitan Police Service hybrid working policy.
You will be expected to work from a Met location for at least three days a week (60% of working time) to support our operational teams and collaborate effectively. For up to two days per week (no more than 40% of working time), you may be permitted to work from home, balancing flexibility with organisational need.
