The role

As a Senior Business Analyst you will lead the business analysis function, providing expert guidance and line management to a team of Business Analysts. You’ll shape and validate complex, strategic requirements, ensuring solutions align with organisational priorities and deliver real impact.
Driving continuous improvement and digital transformation, you’ll champion analytical excellence across the force, coordinate resources, and build capability within the team. You’ll also act as the senior escalation point for complex analytical and cross-functional challenges.
What you’ll do
- Lead, manage and develop the Business Analyst team, setting objectives, supporting wellbeing, and building capability through coaching and development.
- Oversee and prioritise BA workload across programmes and projects to ensure effective resource allocation and timely delivery.
- Establish and maintain high standards, templates and methodologies to ensure consistent, quality analytical outputs.
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex analysis, risks and cross-functional issues, supporting resolution and decision-making.
- Lead the design and optimisation of end-to-end business processes, facilitating strategic workshops and aligning outcomes to organisational priorities.
- Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement activity, ensuring insights translate into meaningful, embedded improvements.

What you’ll bring
- Degree educated (or equivalent) with proven experience leading and developing a Business Analyst team, alongside strong strategic analysis experience at organisational level.
- Extensive knowledge of IT service delivery, project management and emerging technologies, with experience in business case development, governance processes, and an understanding of National Enabling Programmes (NEP).
- Significant experience overseeing multiple programmes or portfolios, with a strong track record of quality assuring business cases, requirements and process documentation, and applying strategic insight to identify and maximise organisational and technological opportunities.
- Advanced ability to challenge strategic assumptions and risks, with strong expertise in benefits modelling, options appraisal, impact assessment, and designing future state operating models.
- Act as a proactive change agent, championing innovation and clearly demonstrating the value of emerging technologies across business functions.
- Experience representing organisations at regional/national level and contributing to cross force transformation, with a strong grasp of the policing digital landscape and its strategic impact.
- Proven change leader with strong strategic thinking, able to shape culture, influence ways of working, and identify long term organisational implications.
