Salary: Starting Salary £42,220 + £6,920 London Weighting(Salary based on 40 hours per week, this will be pro rota’d down in line with your working hours as this is a part time role).

About the team
The Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED) is part of the City of London Police’s National Lead Force for fraud and we have been established for over 13 years providing a dedicated resource to combat insurance fraud throughout England and Wales. As a dedicated unit, we receive funding from the Association of British Insurers (ABI) to undertake our work but are fully operationally independent to make our own investigative decisions. Some examples of the types of work we deal with include:
- Organised crime groups inducing collisions to defraud insurers.
- Fraudulent life insurance claims resulting in several hundreds of thousands of pounds of loss.
- Induced arson to commit insurance fraud resulting in a risk to the public and substantial losses to the insurance industry.

About the role
We are now seeking a dedicated Senior Analyst (0.67 FTE) to lead our research and analytical functions, driving strategic and operational insights into the threats the department deals with. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that IFED focusses our efforts on high threat harm and risk cases, as well as developing our strategic insights to ensure that our capabilities are aligned to changing demands.
This role carries line management responsibilities for a small team of researchers and analysts and, as such, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing their team, helping them to reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be:
- Supervising the collection, collation, evaluation, analysis and dissemination of information / intelligence from a variety of internal and external sources.
- Coordinating the production of high quality analytical products at a strategic and tactical level.
- Professionally developing the staff under your supervision.
- Reviewing the effectiveness of research and analysis conducted by the department and providing constructive feedback where necessary.
- Working with law enforcement agencies and insurance industry partners to develop insights.
Requirements

- Excellent analytical and research skills to evaluate information/intelligence and provide accurate key findings and recommendations that assist deliverance of intelligence led and evidence-based policing.
- Ability to manage and evaluate crime and intelligence data to ascertain value and disseminate as appropriate in accordance with the correct handing guidance.
- Good decision-making skills and the ability to communicate decisions to stakeholder groups and effectively manage their expectations.
- Proven ability to identify and adapt to changing priorities.
- Previous experience of working as an Intelligence Analyst within a law enforcement or associated agency at a tactical, operational and strategic level.
This vacancy is open only to those who have the right to work in the UK. Also, due to this role requiring MV/SC level vetting, you need to have continuously resided in the UK for the last 5 years. This residency needs to be in the immediate 5 years prior to this application.
