An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Force Intelligence Bureau as an Intelligence Analyst on the Operational Analysis team. Through the production and presentation of analytical products you will help drive decision making at a strategic, tactical and operational level across the force. The post holder will be required to present evidence at court.
The role is Career graded from Scale 6 to SO1/2 to reflect the high level of development that analysts will experience as they become accredited, certified and competent in the many facets of this role. Training will be provided to achieve the initial National Analysts Accreditation and further development is supported to achieve the College Of Policing’s Intelligence Professional Portfolio Certification. The career grading structure and assessment is supported in parallel to the Intelligence Professional Portfolio work.
The role requires candidates to have 2 years previous experience of research and an ability to demonstrate the use of multi data sources in analysis, report writing and briefings to stakeholders.
Skills in Data Analysis, Use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point are essential. The recruitment process includes assessment of these skills, alongside the ability to use data & intelligence in line with policies, procedures and legislation. The candidates evidence will also be assessed through a panel interview based on Competency Value Framework.
Prior Education and Experience
Essential:
- Educated to Level 6 e.g. a degree with or without honours OR 3 years experience in the field of intelligence / research / analysis.
- Experience of communicating effectively and of undertaking analysis of a qualitative and quantitative nature.
- Experience of utilising Microsoft Word / Excel / PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of National Intelligence Model.
Desirable:
- Willing to undertake College of Policing Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) Certification (to complete within 12 months of appointment).
- Willing to undertake College of Policing training programme (Introduction to Intelligence, Introduction to Research and Introduction to Analysis).
Skills

- Research, assimilation, and analysis of large volumes of complex data & prepare & produce concise analytical reports.
- Good communication skills with the ability to present information and provide recommendations to various stakeholders to ensure understanding and support decision-making.
- Skilled in the use of use IT packages, systems and/or databases involved in analysing, interpreting, storing, and presenting data.
- Able to identify potential opportunities to enhance efficiency and/or effectiveness within own area of work.

- Ability to maintain the highest levels of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality. Ability to attain and retain necessary level of security clearance and vetting
After shortlisting of applications has taken place, there will be an assessment process regarding data handling and analysis in Excel. The final selection process will include a practical exercise in identifying and prioritising threat, risk and harm, and a panel interview.
