Resource Management Unit Planner
Do you enjoy working as part of a team in a dynamic and varied environment? If so, the Resource Management Unit at Devon & Cornwall Police could be the perfect fit for you. Our team plays a vital role in supporting the wider organisation, ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time.
We are seeking a Resource Management Unit Planner to support the effective deployment of operational policing resources across a range of business areas. In this role, you will develop and maintain resource plans to ensure appropriate staffing levels for both day-to-day policing and planned or spontaneous operations, aligning resourcing with predicted demand and public expectations. You will monitor staffing levels, identify and escalate any shortfalls, and ensure compliance with service level agreements, strategic threat and risk assessments, and agreed workforce plans. The role also involves maintaining accurate data within Force IT systems, producing reports and analysis to inform future resourcing decisions, and presenting plans clearly to managers. As a key point of contact for resource management enquiries, you will provide a professional and courteous service when responding to requests, issues, and feedback, while supporting the development and deployment of a skilled and capable workforce.
This role would suit someone with a strong understanding of resource planning principles and relevant systems, alongside knowledge of Working Time Regulations. You will be confident working with large and complex datasets, particularly using MS Excel beyond basic data entry, with the ability to identify gaps or inconsistencies and draw meaningful insights. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will engage with a wide range of colleagues, including senior officers and managers, requiring clarity, diplomacy, and confidence. You will be comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment and bring effective negotiation and influencing skills. We welcome applicants with different working styles and experiences, and we are committed to providing clear expectations, supportive processes, and an inclusive environment where you can do your best work.
