We have an opportunity for a Researcher to join our team as part of Counter Terrorism Policing South West (CTPSW).
We are looking for people with the ability to identify relevant information and draw logical conclusions from written information, able to spot potential patterns and connections across difference sources of information and data.
We are seeking individuals who can provide high quality research, collate, and evaluate relevant information, from a range of open and closed sources, with accuracy ensuring integrity and security of data.
You will have experience of undertaking research using a variety of techniques (qualitative and quantitative) and can provide research findings in suitable verbal, visual or written formats.
The role is an office-based position. The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain the Intelligence Professionalisation Programme Certification.
You must hold a full driving licence or be able to travel around the force area using alternative transport.
Essential Skills and Experience Include:
- Experience of undertaking qualitative and quantitative research
- Computer literacy with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word and Excel
- Experience of liaison with people in person, over the phone and using software platforms
- Experience of communicating both orally and in writing, including report writing
Candidates who successfully pass the selection process will be recruited into a reserve pool, this means we will reserve your application for a period of 6 months and offer you positions if / when they become available.
Please note that the vacancy located at a building that can be reached by public transport or car in under 45 minutes from central Bristol or Taunton may involve travel between two locations, the base location as advertised and a location on the edge of central Bristol.

As the post holder will have access to very sensitive information, there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries and we will undertake additional security checks as part of the recruitment process.
