Research Assistant - Divisional Asset Attack Team (Economic Crime Unit) - Grade C - 578

As a Research Assistant, your core role will be to receive new case referrals (Mainly Confiscation, money laundering or cash seizure) before inputting details on the case management system and undertaking research associated with each case. This will include checking both internal and external intelligence systems for information and following appropriate lines of enquiry where they present themselves. You will then be required to summarise your findings after which the case will be allocated to a financial investigator.

In addition to your core role as a Research Assistant, you will also be expected to:

• Undertake ad hoc checks of intelligence systems on behalf of financial investigators; and
• Act as a central point of contact for officers wanting the services of a financial investigator
• Monitor the progress of financial investigations that have been ‘pended’ awaiting developments

Because of changes to policy at a national level, candidates may have to gain and retain formal accreditation as a Financial Intelligence Administrator or Financial Intelligence Officer in order to be able to access some of the essential intelligence systems available to the section. This will offer development opportunities to access new intelligence systems they may not have used before, and assist them in achieving the NCA’s ‘Financial Intelligence Administrators’ accreditation. This new found knowledge or skills may add to their existing team’s knowledge / understanding and capabilities.
