The primary focus of this role is to provide support to the FCN Research and Innovation lead. The role will be working across the R&I landscape, leading a national approach to meeting the continual improvement to existing and emerging forensic capabilities.
Policing in the UK faces a series of challenges as it seeks to modernise, become more efficient, and make the most of technology and innovation to respond to modern and future demands. As an integral part of policing, forensic science is facing these challenges too.
At the heart of the National Police Chief’s Council (NPCC) Forensic Portfolio is a desire to work together nationally to deliver high quality, specialist forensic capabilities with centralised support to share knowledge and improve resilience, efficiency, quality, and effectiveness. This is the aim of the Forensic Capability Network (FCN).
The Scientific Officer roles are external facing, with their main purpose being to form community cohesion to enable delivery to the discipline specific FCN Annual Delivery Plan that are compliant with quality management requirements. Ensuring the community recognises the approach, accelerating continual improvement across all Forces’ Forensic Units in their specialist disciplines and leading national expert networks.
The FCN Scientific Officers are central to the development of that function by leading a national approach to meeting the continual improvement to existing and emerging forensic capabilities across UK Forensics.
Please note that the interviews for this role have been provisionally booked in for 23rd November however, this may be subject to change.
