Regional Intelligence Researcher

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Tarian Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) to join the Regional Organised Crime Threat Assessment (ROCTA) Team as an Intelligence Researcher, forming part of the wider ROCU Research and Analysis capability.

ROCUs are a vital part of the national policing network, providing specialist capabilities to forces to help investigate, disrupt and dismantle serious and organised crime. Tarian operates across police force boundaries and works closely with forces and the National Crime Agency (NCA) to tackle some of the most complex and harmful criminal threats.

Tarian brings together over fifteen specialist policing capabilities to tackle the most serious and organised criminal threats facing our communities. From targeting economic and cyber crime to disrupting organised exploitation and managing high‑risk offenders, our teams work closely with local forces, national agencies and partners to turn intelligence into action. It’s fast‑paced, high‑impact work that makes a genuine difference where it matters most.

About the Role

We are recruiting an Intelligence Researcher to join the Regional Organised Crime Threat Assessment Team (ROCTA), part of the ROCU Research and Analysis capability. ROCTA delivers a clear regional picture of serious and organised crime, working with policing and partner agencies to identify organised crime groups, assess risk and support effective tasking and resourcing.

In this role, you will support Intelligence Analysts and the wider Tarian team by researching and developing intelligence from a wide range of sources, contributing directly to threat assessments, horizon scanning and tasking products that inform real operational decisions.

This role is ideally suited to individuals with strong research and analytical skills who are keen to develop a career within intelligence or analysis in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

This role may require attendance at meetings and/or training at venues throughout the UK as well as travel within the Southern Wales Region.

The successful candidate(s) must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC level.

Please note, if you are an internal candidate and subject to an ongoing PSD investigation, your appointment or placement in the role may be delayed pending an outcome. Whether the role is held open will be considered on a case-by-case basis

You should take time to evidence that you meet each of the essential criteria in your application form and/or personal statement and CV.
