We are seeking a dynamic and inspirational leader to take on the critical role of Data Forensics Manager, leading digital forensic capability in Devon & Cornwall Police.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a highly skilled specialist team at the forefront of modern policing, supporting all levels of crime through the forensic examination of computers, mobile devices, and digital media.
The Role
As Data Forensics Manager, you will provide operational leadership to the Data Forensics Team, ensuring the effective delivery of digital forensic services that directly support force and regional investigative priorities.
You will play a pivotal role in high‑profile and complex investigations, coordinating technical resources, and working closely with senior officers, investigators, and partner agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Data Forensics Team in the forensic examination of electronic devices, including computers, mobile phones, and digital media.
- Operate on own initiative, and as part of a team, to support a regional service delivery, accounting for own actions and decision-making.
- Support criminal investigations as directed through Force or Regional tasking, ensuring investigative objectives are achieved efficiently and effectively.
- Liaise with other law enforcement agencies and partners, coordinating investigative activity and contributing to multi‑agency operations.
- Manage unit performance, ensuring delivery aligns with Force performance frameworks, quality management systems, and forensic best practice.
- Provide guidance, support, and ad‑hoc informal training to colleagues and new staff where appropriate.
- Proven organisational skills with a strong attention to detail, maintaining accuracy, ensuring procedures are followed and compliance is sustained.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively including conveying complex and technical information, production of detailed reports and delivering presentations.

Additional Information
- This role may require the post holder to undertake duties commensurate with, or lower than, the grade of the post as required.
- The position is a designated role under the Police Reform Act 2002 and the Policing and Crime Act 2017. The successful candidate will be granted designated powers by the Chief Constable.
