Radio Frequency Propagation Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a Radio Frequency Propagation Surveyor (RFPS) to provide specialist technical expertise in support of operational policing and criminal investigations. Working with Senior Investigating Officers and investigative teams, you will use advanced surveying techniques and specialist equipment to identify, analyse and interpret radio frequency, cellular and wireless network data, helping to maximise investigative opportunities and gather vital forensic evidence.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Providing specialist advice and guidance on RFPS opportunities to support investigations, crime in action and operational policing activities.
  • Attending locations to retrieve, preserve, examine and analyse forensic network and wireless data using specialist equipment.
  • Producing high-quality survey reports, technical findings and evidential statements to support investigations and prosecutions.
  • Presenting complex technical evidence to investigators, prosecuting authorities and courts as a specialist witness.
  • Reviewing survey results and communications data to determine device locations and support investigative decision-making.
  • Developing and maintaining procedures, processes and standards to support the continued growth of the RFPS function.
  • Keeping up to date with developments in telecommunications, legislation, policy and forensic best practice.
  • Supporting and mentoring colleagues and new team members to develop capability within the service.

Flexibility is also important, as there may be occasions where operational requirements necessitate working outside normal office hours at short notice.
