Purchasing Support Officer - Police Staff

Main Purpose of Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, team player to join our Purchasing Team within the Finance Department of the Police Force.  This role is a 15-month fixed term contract to cover a maternity vacancy and the post holder will be part of a team providing an excellent transactional, customer focused service to the Force. 

As part of the transactional services team, you will be required to liaise with the wider organisation to ensure requisitions and purchase orders are processed efficiently; help administer and reconcile petty cash; and manage suppliers through recording goods received notes, reconciling statements, and ensuring invoices are accurately processed in order that payments are made to suppliers on time.

The role is flexible in terms of working from the office and home working.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and systems
  • Accurately process requisitions, purchase orders and goods received notes
  • Responsible for ensuring supplier accounts are reconciled and payments made efficiently within Force polices
  • Liaise professionally with internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience and knowledge of computer based financial systems
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Effective communicator with a proactive approach
  • Be able to prioritise workloads and work to strict deadlines
