Procurement and Contract Officer

Cheshire Police is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Procurement and Contracts Officer to join our Procurement Team based at Cheshire Constabulary HQ in Winsford.

This is an exciting opportunity for a procurement professional who is passionate about delivering value for money, building strong stakeholder relationships, and ensuring compliance within a complex and highly regulated environment.

Working closely with the Procurement and Contracts Manager, you will lead and support a range of medium-value and more complex procurement projects and contracts across diverse areas including technology, finance, estates, and corporate services. Your work will directly contribute to the efficient delivery of policing services across Cheshire.

What You'll Be Doing …..

Lead procurement and contract management activities for medium-value, medium-risk and complex procurements.

Act as the key point of contact for stakeholders, supporting the development of specifications, tender documentation, evaluation criteria and contract requirements.

Manage procurement exercises from market engagement through to contract award and implementation.

Build strong relationships with internal customers and suppliers to ensure contractual performance is effectively monitored and managed.

Negotiate contract terms and renewals, addressing performance issues and applying contractual remedies where appropriate.

Provide professional procurement and commercial advice to stakeholders, ensuring compliance with procurement legislation, financial regulations and organisational policies.

About You …..

We're looking for someone who has:

Membership of, or progress towards membership of, the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS).

Experience of working within the public sector, particularly within policing, local government, emergency services or wider public service organisations.

Knowledge of public sector procurement regulations and governance frameworks.
