Nottinghamshire Police is looking for a highly organised and motivated Policy Officer to join our Governance & Assurance Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing, managing and maintaining the force's corporate policies, procedures, strategies and guidance documents. You will help ensure that our governance framework remains effective, compliant with legislation and best practice, and supports the delivery of high-quality policing services to our communities.

Working across the organisation, you will collaborate with colleagues at all levels, including senior leaders, departmental leads and external partners, providing expert support and guidance on corporate documentation and governance processes.

What you will be doing

As a Policy Officer, you will:

  • Manage and maintain the Force's corporate documentation framework and policy register.
  • Coordinate the review, development and publication of policies, procedures, strategies and guidance.
  • Work with policy owners and subject matter experts to ensure documents remain up to date and compliant.
  • Support the development and implementation of governance and records management processes.
  • Monitor changes in legislation, national guidance and policing best practice that may impact the organisation.
  • Administer and publish documentation on the Force Intranet and website.
  • Assist with the design, development and maintenance of corporate forms and associated documentation.
  • Prepare reports, briefing papers and recommendations on policy-related matters.
  • Coordinate meetings, maintain action trackers and provide professional administrative support where required.

What we are looking for

We are seeking someone who can demonstrate:

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience of developing, managing or coordinating policies, procedures, governance frameworks or corporate documentation.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce professional documents, reports and briefings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and version control.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently whilst building effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Confidence when communicating with colleagues at all levels of an organisation.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a governance, compliance, assurance, public sector or regulated environment.
  • Understanding of legislation, policy development or records management principles.
  • Knowledge of policing or criminal justice organisations.
  • Experience of website or intranet content management.

Additional Information

The successful applicant will be required to undertake the appropriate level of police vetting and may be required to travel to various locations across Nottinghamshire as required by the role.

Interviews - Either w/c 28 July or 4 August 

Vetting Level – Recruitment – you must have resided in the UK for at least the last 3 years, with less than 12 months spent abroad (some exceptions for those living on a UK military base).
