A Police Staff Investigator will act as case officer for a variety of lower level offences which include but not exclusively criminal damage, theft and assaults. The expectation will be to carry out investigations professionally, ethically, thoroughly and expeditiously in accordance with investigation policy, Professional Investigation Programme (PIP) standards and legal requirements.
The duties include preparing and conducting interviews of suspects, submission of quality case files for court and ensuring relevant safeguarding measures are undertaken including appropriate risk and impact assessments for the victim and where appropriate the wider community.
Please note: The successful candidate will work a shift pattern working days, lates and weekends. Shift pattern and allowances will be confirmed if selected for an interview, where a pattern requires you to work weekends there is also an enhancement to your allowances.

KEY RECRUITMENT INFORMATION AND DATES:
INTERVIEW: Interviews will be undertaken within the week commencing 07th September 2026. If you are unable to attend any dates within this time please let the recruitment team know when submitting your application. The selection stage will consist of a structured interview.
PERSONAL SAFETY TRAINING (PST): All post holders are required to complete Tier 4 Personal Safety Training (PST) and appropriate refresher training as determined by the Learning and Development department.
TRAINING
All successful candidates will need to complete the PSI training course based at Winfrith, Police Headquarters which starts on 2nd November 2026 for 12 weeks. Individuals will need to be full time for this training and no holiday will be granted during this time.
