We are now hiring a full time Seized Property Manager, managing teams based at Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough and Milton Police Station in Cambridge. This role supports operational policing and reduces organisational risk by providing a managed service for the administration, storage and disposal of crime and evidential property.

The role:
You will manage two teams of Seized Property Officers, one based in Thorpe Wood Police station in Peterborough and the other based in Milton Police Station in Cambridge. This role will be full time, working Monday to Friday. The role will be based between our Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough and our Milton Police Station in Cambridge, with the requirement to spend time equally between both stations, as well as the occasional requirement to travel to other sites.
You will be required to attend the workplace and there is no ability for home working due to the nature of the role. Your role as a Police Seized Property Manager will be to support operational policing and reduce organisational risk by providing a managed service for the administration, storage and disposal of crime and evidential property. Every day is different whatever your role in policing, so here’s an overview of your day-to-day responsibilities:
- To provide 1st line management to the Seized Property Officers based across the county. Monitoring their workload and ensuring that all tasks are completed to the required standards and in accordance with force policies and procedures.
- Responsible for management of the booking in, security, correct storage, disposal and review of all items of property stored within the main Property Department and holding stores for evidential purposes in line with Force policy.
- To deliver support and awareness of the seized property policies and systems within the wider organisation.
- To contribute to the continuous improvement of the department, by regular reviews of processes and systems, ensuring efficiencies are identified to maximise available resources and identify opportunities for improvement, demonstrating an understanding of the wider organisational impacts.
- Management of scheduled and adhoc property audits in accordance with Force Policy.
- Compile and prepare information as required for statistical purposes, to provide accurate data for returns.
- To investigate, resolve and provide an appropriate response to all property complaints, ensuring that responses provided are of a high standard, consistent, corporate and promote public reassurance at all times.
Are you the right person for the Seized Property Manager position?

- A level or equivalent and GCSE or equivalent in English Language (minimum grade C).
- A minimum of two years line management experience
- Minimum of five years’ experience of working in an office environment undertaking administrative tasks and using computerised records.
- Minimum of five years’ experience of working in a customer facing role, servicing the needs of customers effectively and dealing with complaints.
- Able to demonstrate excellent, clear, accurate and concise numeracy, written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to develop effective and positive working relationships with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
- Able to deal with upset, aggressive or confrontational people in a polite diplomatic and positive way.
- Have a flexible and adaptable approach to working hours, duties and required training.
- Have a good degree of computer literacy, including Microsoft 365 and internal database systems.
- Hold a valid full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
There is an occasional requirement to undertake manual handling activities, including the movement of equipment, exhibits or supplies. Suitable training and support will be provided.
Desirable Qualifications
- Management / Leadership qualification minimum level 3 or equivalent.
- Audit qualification
- Knowledge of Criminal Law would be advantageous.
